The Dream Forward Fellowship is a structured mentorship and leadership development initiative.
Our program is designed to support and uplift young adults in East Texas by providing mentorship, resources, and networking opportunities to help them achieve their goals—whether personal, professional, or educational.
High School GPA: 2.0 or higher
College GPA: 2.0 or higher
Must have graduated from a Deep East Texas High School
Currently attending or planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year university
Must attend monthly events & activities
Must maintain a specified number of points each semester

Martheaus Perkins is a 2020 Center High School graduate who turned his passion for writing into a promising career. After earning his Bachelor of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University, he is now pursuing a Master’s in Creative Writing at George Mason University.
Martheaus faced challenges growing up, but his love for writing became both a refuge and a way to unlock new opportunities. In 2024, he achieved a significant milestone when his poetry collection, The Grace of Black Mothers, was accepted for publication—an accomplishment not often reached while still in school.
Martheaus' story is one of perseverance, passion, and a deep belief in the power of education to open doors. His journey proves that with dedication, anything is possible.
