We strive to empower young adults by advancing their knowledge, skills, and opportunities. We recognize that many young adults face challenges after leaving high school, often lacking the support and resources they need, whether they pursue higher education or enter the workforce.
Our mission is to provide East Texas young adults with the resources, mentorship, and guidance they need to succeed, regardless of their chosen path. We aim to bridge the gap between initial assistance and ongoing support throughout this transition by, connecting them with experienced professionals, offering valuable insights into various career opportunities, and assisting with skill-building initiatives. By fostering a supportive community, East Texas Dreamers seeks to empower individuals as they embark on their career journeys, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive.
Martheaus Perkins is a 2020 Center High School graduate who turned his passion for writing into a promising career. After earning his Bachelor of Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University, he is now pursuing a Master’s in Creative Writing at George Mason University.
Martheaus faced challenges growing up, but his love for writing became both a refuge and a way to unlock new opportunities. In 2024, he achieved a significant milestone when his poetry collection, The Grace of Black Mothers, was accepted for publication—an accomplishment not often reached while still in school.
Martheaus' story is one of perseverance, passion, and a deep belief in the power of education to open doors. His journey proves that with dedication, anything is possible.
